Milito signs on for another year with Barce

Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito has signed a one-year contract extension, through 2012 with an option for another year after that.

It's good news for a guy that was just getting back to himself after a serious knee injury in April 2008.

The 29-year-old, whose new contract retains the existing buy-out clause of € 90 million, joined Barca in 2007 from Real Zaragoza.

Milito suffered a serious knee injury in the Champions League semi-final against Manchester United in April 2008, but he made his official comeback at the start of this year in the Copa del Rey tie with Sevilla.

This season, as well as that cup game against Sevilla, Milito has featured 11 times in the league and in five Champions League matches.

"I'm immensely happy. After suffering everything that I have it's great. I've always said that this is the best group I've every played with, and now I can go on holiday delighted to have won the league and because I've been in good shape," Milito told the club's website.
