For the love of humanity leave the World Cup alone

In case you don't read the news too often and only glimpse at ESPN or Goal.com or 442.com or some other source for daily sports fix you might have missed what I consider to be the biggest news in the soccer world in recent months and no I am not talking about my beloved German national team captain being declared unfit for what probably have been his last World Cup.

Today in Iraq, security officials announced they uncovered a terrorist plot by Al-Qaida to attack the World Cup this upcoming June. A former officer from the Saudi army - where realistically much of the Al-Qaida terrorist organization is being raised - was detained and the supposed plan was uncovered. The man in question is suspected in several other attacks on Baghdad.

However, none of the details have been released yet, South African officials have not been notified as of yet, and as I can tell not many news web outlets are picking up this story as major breaking news as of last night.

This is something we definitely will want to keep an eye.
