Denmark's 30-man preliminary World Cup roster

In Group E with the Netherlands, Japan and Cameroon, Denmark will clearly be playing for second place behind the Dutch.

Glancing at the 30-man roster for the Danes and they obviously have some talent based on the club teams that its players are from.

Injured goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen was included by Denmark coach Morten Olsen in his 30-man preliminary World Cup roster.

Sorensen dislocated his elbow last month while playing for Stoke in England's Premier League and is trying to regain fitness ahead of Denmark's June 14 opener.

Olsen said Sorensen is making good progress and suggested only a major setback would see him miss out when the final 23-man roster is picked by June 1.

Others selected include Feyenoord forward Jon Dahl Tomasson, Ajax winger Dennis Rommedahl and Liverpool defender Daniel Agger. Also picked were veterans Christian Poulsen of Juventus and Martin Jorgensen of Aarhus.

Defender Patrick Mtiliga, a 29-year-old with Spain's Malaga, was less expected. Mtiliga has played one match for Denmark.

"A football team is like a symphony orchestra. There are of course soloists but the team should be able to hold the rhythm," Olsen said.

Twenty-six players in the provisional squad were included for Denmark's exhibition against Senegal on May 27. Olsen said the remaining four are on standby.
