Well it looks like Steve Ralston is not hanging up the boots after all and instead going home signing as a free agent to play for AC St. Louis in the revamped North American Soccer League. According to the NASL, Ralston is the first MLS player to join the league.
Unclear as to whether NASL is getting ready to make itself an alternative to established professional soccer league product Major League Soccer in the same manner that the ABA offered completion to the NBA before they merged in the past and the American Football League was to the NFL before they merged.
What is known is that the league formed nine teams last November and is some element of the former league that featured world famous players Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, and Johan Cruyff from 1968-84.
