Wayne: I don't know John, tell me.
John: Stabbing your best mate's girlfriend in the back, get it...
Wayne: That's hilarious.
Both: Hahahahahahahahah
Somehow I doubt John Terry will try to break the ice with fellow England international Wayne Bridge next month for the friendly with Egypt with any variation of the previous conversation having admitted to an affair with the left-back's former French lingerie model girl friend Vanessa Perroncel that got her pregnant.
Don't expect any friendly hugs, grab-ass or handshakes as pictured above either, the two seem more on par for the type of relationship Kobe and Shaq had after Kobe was accused of rape in Colorado and told Eagle town cops, "that his Los Angeles Lakers teammate Shaquille O'Neal had paid women up to $1 million to keep 'situations like this' quiet."
From the moment the affair was splashed all over the tabloids when the High Court threw out Terry's attempted gag order to keep the matter silent, you could just feel that eventually Terry and Bridge would be inserted into the same lineup whether it was to see if they could coexist on the field together and in the same locker room or because first-team left-back Ashley Cole had to miss some type of action.
Well voila (pun definitely intended). For those hoping, drooling, waiting for that tenuous moment to occur, their prayers have been answered. Cole fractured his ankle in a challenge with our very own U.S. international and current Everton player Landon Donvan, sidelining Cole for at the very least the next three months, and putting in jeopardy his starting first-team left-back spot for the World Cup.
As you may have guessed or previously read before, Bridge is the second-choice back for England. A solid player, he certainly does not have the speed or offensive ability of Cole. But, according to an ESPNsoccernet story below, Bridge will do his duty if and when called up by England boss Fabio Capello.
We will have to see what type of irreparable damage Terry's affair has caused for an English team that finally seemed to have the chemistry, talent, and ability all coming together at the perfect time. So far it has cost Terry his captaincy. In past World Cups, big egos have cost England any real chance to contend and do well in their tournament - just see the past 2008 Euro Cup where Steve McClaren failed to even guide his team qualification because he could not make the chemistry between so many of the English big stars work on the field.
If you are a U.S. fan, this the dream scenario. Donovan's big break of Cole means he will of all people will be the one to most likely get the task of exposing Bridge in the World Cup. Something he can and will do if he is on the right side for the U.S. midfield. If you are an England fan, you are at the polar opposite end of the spectrum, crapping your pants right now thinking, "Did Donovan just cost my team, who would have been one of the 3 or 4 top favorites, another chance to bring home our second World Cup?"
Regardless of your fandom, the plot lines continue to get juicier and juicier. Stick around for further analysis.
Hopefully they will play Rio in between Terry and Bridge........ Actually, it might be better for us if they don't
