4 MONTHS FROM TODAY THE WORLD CUP BEGINS

Today is an historic day in South Africa, 20 years ago Nelson Mandela was released from prison. It's hard to put in words what Mandela was able to do for his country - like an Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. mixed in one helping to end apartheid- the now 92-year-old was also a large and important figure in bringing the upcoming 2010 World Cup to South Africa.

If you get the chance watch a replay of ESPN's Outside the Lines from today. You will see an incredible feature on not only Mandela himself, but the impact of his release, the historic rugby World Cup captured in the film Invictus, and also his role in bring the World Cup to South Africa, which will begin four months from today when South Africa will take on Mexico in Johannesburg.
