Fulham's only hope to make it to the Champions League

Interesting news out of England as the Premier League is apparently considering making a playoff for the fourth spot in the Champions League.

For now, the top four teams in the EPL qualify for the Champions League. The proposal apparently would allow the 4th-7th clubs to have a shot to move on based on a mini-playoff.

On the plus side, it would add more competition for a league that is completely dominated by the Big Four: Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. Those same four teams have filled the top four positions in five of the last six years. Only Everton in 2005 was able to break through.

Opponents say that the seasons are too long already and this would add a burden, especially in a World Cup or European Championship year.
