Giselle must be beside herself

Everybody loves to watch Brazil do their thing, when they're at their best they're as entertaining and dominant as any country in the world. Still, it's nice to see some new blood are going to win the 2010 World Cup. The Dutch have never won the World Cup even though they're always one of the most talented squads out there.

Brazil survived the Group of Death but their lack of offensive firepower hurt them when they played a sound defensive team like Netherlands.

Brazil

Best moment: Going up 1-0 in 10th minute vs. Netherlands as Robinho made it seem like it would be business as usual for the Brazilians.

Worst moment: Cesar's whiff on the Sneijder cross was terrible but at least he didn't get sent off like Melo. Just an unspeakable mistake by an overrated player.

Best result: The 3-0 win over Chile in the round-of-16 made people think that Brazil was the favorite once again.

Worst result: Clearly losing to the Netherlands was the worst but I think if you look deeper at the North Korea win (2-1) and scoreless draw with Portugal in the third group game, you see that this edition of Brazil was a bunch of front-runners that couldn't get it done when they played worthy opposition.

Final tally: 3 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw. 9 goals scored, 3 goals conceded.

Best player: As Shimer pointed out in his excellent best 11 post yesterday, Maicon has been a revelation for the Brazilians. The defender's runs forward have been both numerous and deadly. He had an outstanding tournament.

Worst player: Again Felipe Melo is a no-brainer in this spot. You didn't think I'd let him get away so easily did you? He wasn't the only reason his team lost but he was the biggest culprit in their performance that didn't resemble a Brazilian team.
