Result of the tournament: Brazil bows out

It's all over with Netherlands knocking out Brazil 2-1 in the 2010 World Cup quarterfinals. The Dutch will meet the winner of Ghana/Uruguay on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

A shocking result worldwide, this validates Netherlands with the defining win that this team has been searching for. Brazil choked and they don't have to look any further than Melo for a scapegoat. Not only did he have an own goal (which wasn't really his fault) but he picked up a dumb red card that completely ruined his team's chances of winning. Great job dude. Shimer is going to do a worst 11 after the quarterfinals are complete and you better believe Melo just reserved his spot.

Sneijder was the man of the match with the winning goal and the play that led to the tying strike. He has become one of the top players, any position, in the world and that started with his incredible season with Inter Milan that ended with a Champions League title. Could it also include a World Cup trophy?

Final stats:

Netherlands Brazil
11(4) Shots (on Goal) 15(4)
19 Fouls 19
4 Corner Kicks 8
3 Offsides 3
49% Time of Possession 51%
4 Yellow Cards 1
0 Red Cards 1
3 Saves 3

  1. I saw the whole game and I must say I am shocked and disappointed Brazil lost. I wanted them to win it all!
