Coming a day after Liverpool qualified for the Europa Cup semifinals (the NIT of European football), they locked up goalkeeper Jose "Pepe" Reina for six more seasons.
Reina joined Liverpool from Spainish club Valencia in 2005 and he has become one of manager's Rafael Benitez's greatest signings to date.
The 27-year-old keeper will be headed to South Africa this summer with Spain and he's looking forward to six more years playing at Anfield.
Reina told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to sign a new contract. It's probably the best news of my life that I'll be here for the next six years. Me and my family are really happy here.
"To play for Liverpool is very special. I've been here for five years and now I will be here for six more and it's very exciting.
"It's very important that my family love it here as well, as family life is just as important as my career.
"My wife told me from the beginning she was more than happy here. My kids enjoy it and they have picked up the scouse accent already. I am really proud of that. In the years ahead they will speak much more scouse too."
Random tidbit: When Liverpool fans hold up their scarves at the end of games and sing "You'll Never Walk Alone," (also done by Celtic supporters) it's truly a goosebump moment. Ever since I saw that, I've been a fan of Liverpool. It's one of the most unique and unforgettable moments in world football these days.
