Kaka out 3-4 months following knee surgery

It has not been a good few months for Kaka and it just got even worse.

The Brazil and Real Madrid star midfielder will be out for the next 3-4 months following knee surgery.

The Spanish club said Thursday that Kaka left the team's camp in Los Angeles to have the operation on his meniscus in Antwerp, Belgium.

Madrid coach Jose Mourinho said "if we lose him for some time it's no drama, we have other players, but he's one of the best in the world."

The team said a routine medical exam performed on Kaka after the Brazil international returned from vacation revealed a problem with his left knee.

Hindsight being 20/20 as always, perhaps this is why he wasn't up to his usual sublime standards at the 2010 World Cup. Or maybe he just didn't play well, who knows? Regardless, hopefully he gets better and can go back to being himself, an out of this world talent for both his club and country.

Kaka out

Kaka is out in the 81st minute for Kleberson.

3-0 Brazil in the 81st minute.

Fabiano makes it 2-0 Brazil

I had thought of writing earlier how this Brazilian team wasn't of the same unbeatable quality of past ones but that looks silly now that they're up 2-0 on Chile.

After some classic Brazilian passing: Robinho centered it to Kaka who touched it to Luis Fabiano. He dribbled around Bravo and bingo, it was 2-0 Brazil in the 38th minute.

Brazil beat Chile twice in World Cup qualifying and that streak doesn't look to change here.

Kaka booked again, this one a little more legitimate than last one

Sorry for the delay, I had to get out of the house since it's 90 degrees and get to my air conditioned Planet Fitness.

Brazil and Chile are scoreless in the 32nd minute. Kaka just picked up a yellow for a lazy tackle. It wasn't that bad but at least it had much more substance than his red card vs. Ivory Coast which was a travesty.

Here's your starting 11's:

Brazil Lineup

1Júlio César
CD-L
4Juan
CD-R
3Lúcio

I'm rooting for Chile to win this one. I'm sick of Brazil always dominating, it's time for some new blood although Brazil-Netherlands in the quarterfinals would be quite tasty.

Kaka out, Nilmar in

Kaka was just subbed out for Nilmar. I'm not a big Kaka fan and he certainly didn't bring his best stuff tonight, he was nearly invisible.

Nilmar almost scored with his first touch, forcing a save from Myong-Guk.

North Korea subbed Kim Kum-Il for Mun In-Guk.

2-0 Brazil in the 83rd minute and they're just playing around now.
