Super Eagles only caught flight when it was too late

The Super Eagles were a trendy pick to make it out of Group B, in second place, but they never really showed up in this tournament. Well they did, but it was too late since it was in the third match when they had no points and needed a bunch of other factors to fall their way.

Nigeria

Best moment: Late in the second half when it looked like they might somehow advance if they could just score one more goal.

Worst moment: When they fell just short vs. South Korea and tied 1-1. Only one African team can really do anything now (Ghana).

Best result: Not many choices so I guess it has to be the tie right?

Worst result: 2-1 loss to Greece. That was the game the Super Eagles had to have and they couldn't get it done after getting a red card.

Final tally: 2 losses, 1 draw; 3 goals scored, 5 goals against.

Best player: midfielder Kalu Uche, who scored two of his team's three goals.

Worst player: forward Obafemi Martins, had the chance to score the goal that would have put Nigeria in the round-of-16 but he choked. And you have to believe he's the guy that they would prefer to have that opportunity.
