England runners-up in Group C

It's a shame that I didn't get to watch more of the England-Slovenia match because I really like the English team (despite their Red Sox pre-2004 tendencies).

The fact that the Three Lions came through with a 1-0 win and finished second behind the U.S. in Group C is a dream scenario at least for me. England will play at 10 a.m. on Sunday against the winner of Group D: Ghana, Germany or Serbia. I'm just hoping the U.S. can avoid the Germans-one of the tournament's best teams-so I'm willing to let England face them.

It was a pretty poor showing by the English in the Group stage with the draw against the U.S., the tie vs. Algeria and now today's match which sounded rather close against Slovenia.

Nothing is ever easy for this talented group of choke-artists.
