1-0 Brazil at halftime

Maicon with a good shot forcing a save by Stekelenburg (that was incorrectly ruled a goal kick). The Dutch goalkeeper was a lifesaver with his stop on Kaka, otherwise it would be 2-0 and game over for Brazil.

It's halftime with Brazil leading 1-0 and frankly other than the one save by Cesar, Brazil has been the much more dominant team. Robben has had a couple chances but he can't even get a shot off before he's swarmed by a bunch of Brazilian defenders. It doesn't help that he doesn't have a right foot as far as anyone knows. He needs to be stronger on his feet too, he goes down way too easily and whines for calls.

Halftime stats:

Netherlands Brazil
4(2) Shots (on Goal) 7(3)
9 Fouls 9
2 Corner Kicks 3
1 Offsides 2
45% Time of Possession 55%
1 Yellow Cards 1
0 Red Cards 0
2 Saves 2

Juan shuts me up, 1-0 Brazil

Just as I wrote that I want Brazil to lose, they scored off a corner kick in the 34the minute.

Maicon took the corner and Brazilian defender Juan rose up to meet it and put it past a leaping but helpless Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

1-0 Brazil in the 37th minute.

Maicon breaks the deadlock with no-angle goal

In the 55th minute, Maicon finally put one in for Brazil. The midfielder made a nice run and received the ball on the right hand side of the box.

Everyone thought he was crossing (which he might have been) but it went behind North Korean goalkeeper Ri Myong-Guk. It wasn't a gaffe like Algeria or Robert Green let up but it's hard to believe that it squeezed through from that angle. Maicon was almost on the touch line.

Maicon shaken up

Maicon just went down after being caught by Messi's shoulder right on his jaw.

He probably has a concussion and his day is done as they're taking him off on a stretcher.

Dream start for Inter Milan

Well what do you know, Inter Milan just went up 2-1 with a goal from Maicon.

The Brazilian fullback made a run right up the middle of the field and Milito gave him a good pass that he only had to touch by Victor Valdes. As the announcers have said, it's been a perfect start to the second half for Inter Milan.

Mourinho is pumping his fist and Barce looks shell-shocked.
