Hate to see all the WAGs go home so early

As I predicted all along, the English don't even come close to sniffing the World Cup final let alone a title. Once they came in second place in Group B, you knew there was no shot since they'd have to go through Germany and probably Argentina just to get to the semifinals.

Fabio Capello is an Italian bozo that loves art and oprea. These quirks didn't do the English any good and I'm sure he'll get fired soon. It wasn't his fault that they lost, it's time to admit once and for all (until proven otherwise) that the English national team is not one of the superpowers of the world. Time after time, they lump themselves at the top but the results don't match up. Great teams don't tie Algeria or beat Slovenia by one goal.

England

Best moment: When it looked like Frank Lampard had tied it 2-2 against Germany.

Worst moment: The defensive breakdowns (American style) that led to multiple counterattack goals by the Germans today. A 2-1 game quickly became 4-1 and the Three Lions were cooked.

Best result: The 1-0 win over Slovenia in their third game allowed them to be runner-up in Group B and become the sacrificial lamb to Germany. Joy.

Worst result: I was listening to it all on XM radio but the 0-0 draw against Algeria is unforgivable. That was a game England should have won, then they would have had a much easier path to the Cup final.

Final tally: 1 win, 2 ties, 1 loss. 3 goals scored, 5 goals allowed.

Best player: Jermain Defoe. The Tottenham striker should have started against the U.S. but he made the most of his limited time with a goal (the game-winner) against Slovenia.

Worst player: This has been the easiest choice so far of any eliminated team. Wayne Rooney didn't have a goal or assist in the 2010 World cup. It'll probably come out later that he wasn't fully recovered from his ankle injury or some other bullshit but the fact of the matter is that he was on the field so he should have done more.
