Dempsey was in fact onsides and it should have been a goal. That's two awful calls against them in this tournament so far that disallowed goals. Ugh.
England went ahead 1-0 in the 22nd minute. Jermain Defoe (who finally started ahead of Emile Heskey) slotted in a one-timer from James Milner.
