Laser show bro, relax

Well that didn't take long.

After buzzing around the Australian goal with their first few chances, the Germans just struck with a thunderbolt in the eighth minute from German midfielder Lukas Podolksi (his 39th international goal, an amazing tally for such a young player).

Thomas Muller received a perfect through ball (onsides) and pulled it back to Podolski who blasted it with his favored left foot. Australian goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer got a piece of it with his hand but it was going too fast.

German forward Mesut Ozil just received a yellow card in the 12th minute for a clear dive.

1-0 Germany in the 14th minute.
