Buffon's injury, Santa Cruz in

The announcers just said that Buffon left with a hamstring injury.

Also, Paraguay took out forward Nelson Valdez and put in forward Roque Santa Cruz.

Camoranesi just picked up a yellow card for stepping on Cristan Riveros.

Italy's last sub: forward Alberto Gilardino out, Antonio Di Natale in.

1-1 in the 74th minute. Italy is fired up now and it looks like they'll get another before it's all over.

  1. Hey, since the author here is so sure Italy and Paraguay have two easy wins awaiting them over Slovakia and New Zealand, maybe we should scrutinize them more closely, at least Italy.
    2006 World Cup
1.) Mayhem by De Rossi against Striker Brian McBride leaving a big knot on McBrides head.
2.) Soft Penalty, Neill does wrong but obviously Grosso makes a meal out of it, a dive. Unsporting.
3.) Getting the best player of the other team if not in the world sent off. Read "Love and Blood at the World Cup" by Jamie Trecker, there probably is a good case to make that Materazzi said the absolute worse vs. the santized version we see for Fifa's damage control.
1982, Hey West Germany colluding with Austria to advance and Schumacher's attack in the game vs. France is good evidence the best team did not make it to the final.
    1938, Let's see http://www.v-brazil.com/culture/sports/world-cup/1938-France.html

"The quick recovery of Leônidas raised rumours. FIFA says that coach Pimenta declared he was "resting Leonidas for the final". According to this report, Mussolini's assistants would have "convinced" Leônidas to not play that match."

1934, Hand picked referees by Mussolini, everyone knows of that.

Kitchrich is probably sitting around in his Azzurri jersey watching all these teams.

Yes, two easy games alright. I am going to write the newspaper that listed your blog to state it incenses someone to come thinking to read about the USA team instead of this "Red, White and Green" blog.

Plus, I did not see Slovakia or New Zealand dive in the opening 10 minutes, go down untouched, oh well.

  2. Anonymous, not sure at all where you are going with this spewed shrivel of non-sense, but you clearly haven't ready our blog very much. Neither Rich nor myself is an Italian fan, and we don't believe they will go far in this touranment.

However, we have been doing a ton of live blogs to write our thoughts as different games go along. And if you were a reader for a while you would also know that the main focus of the site is the U.S. Both of us traveled down to East Hartford to cover the U.S. vs. Czech Republic friendly.
